Scheme policing

Policing

Unfortunately all industries have their share of Rogue Traders. The RDI scheme is designed to ensure that professional installers are distinguished from the ‘cowboy element’. For this reason we take seriously any attempts by non registered members to claim that they or their business are registered.

Checking

Check whether an installer is registered by using the Quick Search feature and typing an ID number or company registration number. If you do not have these details you can search for all members up to 50 miles from your location through the postcode search.

Reporting

If you believe that an installer or business is trading fraudulently then you can use the link to report this below. This is a confidential facility. You can also attach details and any photographic evidence.

Enforcement

From January 2009 the RDI, supported by trading standards will take legal action against anyone misusing its assets. This includes the digital tick, digital tick certification marks, aeri-AL imagery and any other copy-write protected imagery (e.g. digital-AL)

All such misuses will lead to criminal prosecution, which can result in substantial fines or imprisonment.

From April 2009 all rogue traders claiming to be registered, will be listed on this website for 12 months following a breach of our rules. In addition local trading standards enforcement officers will be informed. Trade directories such as Yell will also cooperate in removing rogues from their pages. Where applicable, editors of local newspapers or magazines will also be contacted to remove future advertising.
